Our recent visitors were Mr. Walter
Paulus and his wife Alice (Sombilon) together with sons Marco
and Pascal with Arlene (Sombilon) as well. Marco’s best friend
Pascal also went with the family and his second time to be in
Padada.
The family was having a grand holiday by
touring around Hongkong for a few days prior to spend the rest
of the holidays in Padada. They have gone as far as Glan in
Sarangani Province and visited a very beautiful beach called
Gumasa. The beach’s white and powdery sand and turquoise
waters were amazing and are more captivating than Boracay sans
the crowd and commercialism.
It was on the last week of their stay
that I am able to meet Marco, we talked over Colt 45 and Red
Horse until the wee hours with Lemuel Sombilon. The day after,
we went to the city for some night outs with Mark, Lemuel and
Carlo. The garden ambiance and the foods at Gardenia Fresca
was a welcome treat for Marco.
Monday is not a good day to make party in
the city as most party animals hibernate but we were on a
prowl and hopped from one bar to another intoxicating
ourselves with beers and with anything one can fancy to gulp.
Daybreak caught us in the sea wall where the controversial
statue of David was, people were doing their morning exercises
and we were still drinking Red Horse. We came back on a Friday
night to show our guests how Davao people party but had to
leave earlier for an early appointment the following day.
They had a blast!!!
It was a great opportunity talking with
Pascal and Marco over Tanduay Rum. The exchange of cultural
diversity was interestingly important in understanding two
contrasting cultures. A chance for me to know about their
province and on how people live and vice versa.
danke meine Freunde, bis wir wieder
treffen
